Catch Up Time!

Well, obviously it has been a while...just can't believe it's been 2 months!  And so much has happened...well, not really, but she does grow and change every day.  I'll do my best to recap the past couple months for ya!

Let's see...where to begin...

We celebrated Thanksgiving with friends and family at the Hettinga's home.  Wylie is sporting her handmade outfit by mom (me that is!) and her pumpkin hat from Grandma Beth.  Wylie went on her first road trip to Dallas on Friday to visit Grandma Carole and Aunt Kat.  She did excellent, sleeping all the way!  I believe it was just the last 45 minutes she had had about enough - we'll take the good 6 1/2 hours for sure though!  At lunch, she did show Daddy what a good grip she has by pulling over his tea into his lap!  (She'd already shown mama that skill not too long before)

For the return trip, we brought back Julie and her oldest son, Jake to visit the dairy.  It was a great visit, although poor Jake was a little more scared of the cows than Julie had anticipated.  After a little persuasion, we were able to convince him that he would enjoy jumping in the cotton, which of course, he did!

Wylie was still getting her baths in a fancy tub in the laundry room, until she started really enjoying bath time and started kicking and kicked out the drain twice!  That was enough to convince mom it was time to move to the big tub!  She absolutely loves taking a bath!  She starts spittin' and kickin' before she even gets in!

As you can see, she's also gotten to be pretty limber.  I was able to catch the first placement of foot into mouth while on the changing table.  Go Wylie!

In addition to figuring out how to put her feet in her mouth, she's been working very hard to learning how to crawl.  She's well on her way, but still stuck on her tummy!  Pretty cute anyway...

It's amazing how much she changes and how her personality is developing.  She is quite the talker - making all sorts of silly noises.  If I can ever get some video uploaded you'll hear for yourself!

So a couple weeks before Christmas Wylie and mama were in Lubbock at Chick-fil-A and there was a Santa Cow there!  Of course, we had no camera and I was beating myself up about how cute that would have been to get a picture.  So I called Chick-fil-A to find out when the Santa COW would be there and we had two options.  We were able to make the trip for the last chance before Christmas and got there just as SANTA was arriving - yes, just Santa.  Oh well, only we would be sad about it being Santa and not the Santa Cow!  But we stood in line and got an adorable pic with Santa and as Joe was getting his milkshake out comes the Santa Cow!  So we were able to get a picture with both Santas!

For her first Christmas, she was already excitedly awaiting Santa's arrival as she wouldn't go to sleep for almost two hours past her usual bedtime!  Come Christmas though, Wylie proudly demonstrated her ability to sit up all by herself (with a helping hand nearby) and enjoyed the paper and boxes very much!  Oh, and the gifts were nice too!

Having been sleeping through the night for over a month, she showed us she was ready for some real food by awaking in the middle of the night again.  We started with some rice cereal mixed with milk, and have attempted spoon feeding it as well - key word there, "attempted."

She's also enjoyed licking Daddy's apples!

At 6 months, Wylie weighs in at 15.5 lbs and is 25.5 inches long.  She's the perfect image of a 6 month old!  The weekend of her 6 month birthday and her mama's 32nd, Wylie was baptized in the Catholic Church in Muleshoe.  Grandma Carole and Aunt Kat made a special trip for the occasion.  Wylie was a squirmy worm, but having been awake almost all day with only 2 - half hour naps, she did great!  I think she was just so excited to have so many people around since Daddy had been gone for a whole week prior.  It was a wonderful evening and a very special occasion we will treasure forever!  Isn't her dress beautiful?!  Grandma Carole made it especially for little miss Wylie!

Whew!! I believe that gets us all caught up!  I promise to be much better as this has become my way of recording Wylie's growth!  Thanks for keeping up with our little Wylie Jane!
